C.L. "Butch" Schaefer Sr.

C.L. (Butch) Schaefer Sr., 74, of Bell City, MO passed away March 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on March 29,1946 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Zeno and Barbara (Glueck), Schaefer. He married the love of his life Carolyn Sue Moit on July 10, 1965. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2017.

He worked for Cotton Belt/Union Pacific for 35 years from 1971-2006. He worked for Seep Water Farms the rest of his time on Earth.

He loved bingo, euchre, fishing and he umpired for many years. He loved farm work, especially with the people he worked with. He called them his family after Carolyn past. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to spend time with his brothers and sisters during his fish frys, and card playing. He loved to spend time at the café and the store for coffee. He wanted to thank all the people at Bingo.

He is survived by two sons: Cleo (Donna) Schaefer Jr. of Bell City, MO, Arthur (Jessie) Schaefer of Gordonville, MO; two daughters: Robin Romanowski and Laree Faye Schaefer, both of Pflugerville, TX; two brothers: Marcus Schaefer of Benton, MO, Lawrence Schaefer of Collinsville, IL; ten sisters: Ann Ingram of Jackson, MO, Edna Crosswhite of Glasgow, MO, Xaveria “Fat” Sturm of Gordonville, MO, Valeria “ Skeeter”  Sanchez, Darleen Laton of North Carolina, Marion Wyatt of Marble Hill, MO, Cindy King of Chaffee, MO, Kathy Laws of Cape Girardeau, MO, Karla Schaefer of Gordonville, MO, Barbara Myers of Marble Hill, MO; sister-in-law: Teresa Jackson of Hayti, MO, a brother-in-law: George Moit of Benton, MO, 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, his parents, a sister and two brothers.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Amick-Burnett Funeral in Chafee, MO until 2:00pm.

In-lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
