Cheri Mcswain

Cheri Lynn McSwain, 75 of Scott City died Monday, June 3,2024 at Country Place in Scott City after a six-year battle with cancer.  She was born June 24, 1948 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Glenn and Bertha Marie Dohogne McKee.  She married David McSwain on January 1, 2002 and he preceded her in death.

She was a 1966 graduate of I-SC High School and a SEMO graduate with degrees in art and Literature.  She was a teacher/professor of Art and Literature at Ozarka College in Mountain View, Arkansas.  She was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Pairs and Spares and a world traveler. Cheri was raised with her Granny, Anna Dohogne.

She is survived by her daughter, Mollie (Peter Stivers) Blain of Mountain Home, Arkansas; granddaughter, Emily Jo Penland and Emily’s dad, Joe Penland of Mountain Home, Arkansas; numerous cousins and friends and her fur baby, Louie the cat.

She was also preceded in death by here parents and a sister.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg, Missouri with Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating.
