Carma N. Heuring, 96, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at The Lutheran Home.
Carma was born August 20, 1922, in Fornfelt, Mo. (now Scott City), to Lester H. and Ollie M. Pinkston Wills. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Tee".
Carma grew up in Fornfelt and graduated from Fornfelt High School.
On June 27, 1942, she married the love of her life, Albert L. Heuring. They had 76 amazing years together. They were avid square dancers all their lives.
Carma previously worked for Eli-Walker, Southwestern Bell and Scott City Bank. After their retirement, they moved to Sebring, Fla., where Carma started teaching round dance classes. After several years, the snowbirds from N. Carolina lured her to Pineola, N. Carolina, to teach round dancing for their club. In the wintertime, they would go to Mesa, Az. and dance out there. They eventually moved to Mesa and lived there until September 2015, when they moved back to Mo. They also traveled extensively in their motor home during their retirement, including Alaska, Canada and Nova Scotia.
Carma was a very loving, caring and patient person who enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Albert; sons, Gene (Judy) Heuring of Cape Girardeau, Dean (Ruth) Heuring of Pomona, Mo., Rick (Jan) Heuring of Jackson; daughters, Sharon Poole of Farmington and Monica (Ivan) Stein of Mesa, Az. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, J. C. Wills; sister, Glema Milligan and daughter-in-law, Debby Heuring.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. Parish prayer service will be at 6:45 pm.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 20, at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Oliver Clavin as the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Scott City.
