Carla Dianne Ray

Carla Dianne (Walter) Ray passed away at her home Sunday May 31, 2020 in Oran, Missouri surrounded by family and friends. She was born on April 16, 1953 in Oran, Missouri, she married Barney M. Ray on February 14, 1992. She was the daughter of the late Philip Aloysius and Doris Jean (Klipfel) Walter.

Carla worked at numerous positions through-out her life, Oran Fire & Rescue, Superior Electric, Oran School System and HWI of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The Job she reminisced about the most was working at Kenny’s café in Oran at a ripe old age of 15. She retired from HWI in 2008, to devote more time to help care for her mother, grandchildren and spend more time in her flower gardens. She was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran and Ladies golf association at Fox Haven.

She is survived by her loving husband Barney (Bennie) of the family home, two sons and one step son: James Phillips of Marble hill, Kelly (Amy) Phillips of Oran, Kenneth (Maythe) Ray of St. Louis; one daughter and one-step daughter: Cathy (Mike) Gramlisch of Richmond Virginia; Leslie (Mark) Chapman of Evansville, Indiana; four brothers: Randy (June) Walter of Oran; Kim (Cheryl) Walter of Benton; Danny (Gail) Walter of Chaffee; Scott (Sandy) Walter of Texas; four sisters: Donna Dinges of Oran; Karen (John) Pobst of Scott City; Cindy (Neal) Seyer of Oran; Sandy (Mark) Mahurin of Bloomington, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son: Bobby Gene Philips; two sisters Sharlett Ann Eftink and Gail Renee Dumey, one brother: Ronald David Walter and step father Harold “Bud” Sietman.

Friends may call Wednesday June 3, 2020 after 9:00 am at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Funeral Service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Fred Burgard. There will be a private family committal at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
