Burley Ray Spies

Ray Spies, son of the late Rulen (SAM) Rufus Spies and Reva M. Pruitt Spies was born on December 18, 1933 and departed this life on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Spies was the owner and operator of Spies TV and Small Appliance Repair and a former employee of Superior Electric. Ray was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee prior before joining the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau and a former resident of Chaffee.

He was first united in marriage to Rosetta Blattel on June 28, 1958 and she passed away on August 13, 1981. He then was united in marriage to Nancy K. Eldredge on April of 1984 she preceded him in death on January 6, 2019.

Survivors include three sons, Ritchie (Kelly) Spies of Burfordville, Missouri, Shawn (Jennifer) Spies and Raymond (Nancy) Spies all of Chaffee; by two daughters, Robyn (Scott) VanGennip of Advance, Missouri and Rosalie (Allen) Haney of Chaffee; one brother, Rulen Spies of Lowndes, Missouri; by three sisters, Clara Westrich of Chaffee, Ginny Ledford of Tennessee, and Fimble Enderle of New Hamburg; by fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Spies; and by one sister, Barbara Westrich.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M. conducted by Father Joseph Kelly. Funeral mass will be conducted on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
