Billie "Bill" Mansell

Billie Dean “Bill” Mansell, 83, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Lutheran Home. He was born Feb. 3, 1939 to the late Genevieve Stuckey Menz in Benton, Missouri. After graduating from Oran High School, he joined the Army. He married Rita Leona Meyer from Benton, and they had 5 children. For many years he was active with the Travelers Protection Association. He enjoyed auctions, trains, collectibles, watching Westerns, and reading with his cat Cocoa curled up on his lap. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, step-father, Paul P. Menz, and two half-brothers, Paul Menz, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, and Danny Menz of Benton. Survivors include all of his children: Charlotte (Steve) Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau, Allan (Sharon) Mansell of Fruitland, Cheryl (Pat) Ressel of Scott City, Tammy (Dean) Brotherton of Jackson, and Pat (Mary Jo) Mansell of Bridgeton. Bill also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. A small family service will be held June 3rd at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
