Barbara Lou Coomer
Barbara Lou Coomer, 77 passed away at her home in Scott City on April 18, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Barbara was born on January 11, 1948 in Scott City to the late Albert Uhrhan Jr. and Evelyn Loretta (Blankenship) Uhrhan.
On August 9, 1969 she was united in marriage to Robert B. Coomer in Scott City. Mr. Coomer preceded her in death on December 6, 2021.
Barbara worked as a seamstress for Thorngate LTD. Over 20 years. She then worked at the Monticello House and the Lutheran Home for over 15 years before retiring with her beloved husband in 2021.
Barbara was known by many for her contagious smile that would light up an entire room and for her selfless love and kindness to others. She loved her family dearly and would do anything to help anyone when she could.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Sara (Steve) Coomer-Tuttleton and Jennifer (Lance) Farrow, grandchildren, Shelby (Damien), Nicole (Brandon), SaraLyn, Isaiah, Cheyenne (Collin), Savannah, Dallas, Chuckie, Mercedes, Shantelle, William, Lexi, Devin, Gavin, and Negan; great-grandchildren, Zayden, Nyomi, Robbie, Emma Lou, Maverick, and Nixon; by two brothers, Larry (Linda) Uhrhan, and Wesley (Sharon) Uhrhan; one sister, Betty McFall; also, by three generations of nieces, nephews, and many friends. She and her husband spent years loving many others and considered them bonus children.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Chad Christopher, one daughter, Loretta Dean; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James Robert and Berdean Moore Coomer; son-in-law, Tim McDonald, brother, James Uhrhan, and granddaughter, Katie Parkhurst.
Barbara Lou was one of the sweetest souls one could ever meet—to know her was to love her—and to know her was to know love…
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 10:00 until 12:00 noon at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral services will then be conducted at 12:00 noon with Bro. Mark Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
