Barbara Jean Campbell, daughter of the late Sherman Howard and Mary (Howard) Henson was born on December 7, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed her life on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at her daughter’s residence in Morehouse, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
In her late 40’s, she graduated from nursing school and enjoyed a career as a Registered Nurse at Beuhler Home, serving the needs of the elderly.
She loved traveling, especially to places where she could be near water, as she loved to swim. She loved being with family, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She spent more than a decade as a volunteer teacher at Christian Life Church & Academy in Creve Coeur IL. She enjoyed leading songs and teaching object lessons at church. She walked on water. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the One Church in Sikeston, Missouri.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim (John) Wilds of Morehouse, Missouri; four sons, H. Lee (Tina) Horton of Chaffee, Roger (Elyse) Horton of Washington, Illinois, Dan (Hilary) Horton of Barrington, Rhode Island, and Tony (Darlene) Campbell of Verona, Virginia; one brother, Sherman Pochek; seven sisters, Patricia Burke, Sue Kronenberger, Sharon McAnulty, Karen Holt, Maryann McCollum, Patricia Butler, and Jana Riggins; twenty-eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Horton and a grandson, Justin Horton.
Celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels assisting with arrangements.
