Amelia "Vernie" Simpson

Vernie Simpson, daughter of the late Lawrence Glency and Jessie (Bailey) Glency was born on October 15, 1928 in Chaffee, Missouri and departed her life on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Chaffee Nursing Center at the age of 96 years.

She was a former employee at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Chaffee for several years and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Chaffee.

On February 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to William “Shorty” Simpson in Chaffee. Shorty preceded her in death on March 27, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Janie) Simpson and Paul (Stephine) Simpson all of Chaffee; six grandchildren, Kim Hendrix, Jerry Laxton, Tina Hourat, Kylie Jo Laxton, Taylor Laxton, and Milo Green; also, by several great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, and three grandsons.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 11:30 until 1:00 P.M. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Park Cemetery.
