Alfred A. Lambert, Jr., age 96 originally of Scott City, Missouri died July 19, 2020 of natural causes at his daughters and son-in-law’s home in Cape Girardeau. He was the sixth child of Alfred A. and Nora Etter Lambert, Sr. born in Illmo, Missouri on March 14, 1924.
He served in the 8 th Army Air Force during WW II, as an airplane mechanic in England, later stationed in Germany.
After returning from overseas, he married Violet Nemmo in April 1946. They were married 71 years at her time of death in 2018. They were great parents to three children. He was employed at Marquette Cement for 32 years before retiring. “Junior” was a skilled fisherman and hunter and enjoyed watching wildlife.
Alfred is survived by his oldest child, Sharon and her husband Edward Shafer of Cape Girardeau; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Lambert and his sister, Rose Walter both of Scott City; six grandchildren, Jimmie Brett Griffin and his wife Janine of Scott City and his sisters, Gina and Erin, Jason Shafer and his wife Marie of Jefferson City, Missouri, Paula Shafer and her partner, Alan Hoffmeister of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tommy A. Lambert, Jr and his partner, Brandy Ward of Scott City, Daniel Lambert of Scott City, Holly bass and her husband, Michael of Jackson, Missouri and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Lee Griffin; son, Tommy Alfred Lambert; six siblings and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no visitation.
Graveside service with full military honors will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City with Rev. Randy Morse officiating. If attending the graveside service, please protect your health and safety and that of others by wearing a face mask and practicing social distancing.
