Mike “Al” Eby, son of the late James A. Eby and Vida E. (Taylor) Eby was born on December 26, 1946 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life suddenly on Monday, November 20, 2023 at his residence in Whitewater, Missouri at the age of 76.
He was a 1964 graduate of Delta High School, a 1968 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in BS-AG, Veteran of the United States Army serving in the 1st Cav Division in Vietnam, a 29-year 9-month employee at Procter and Gamble in Cape Girardeau, Missouri before retirement, and owner of Eby Farms LLC. in Whitewater, Missouri. Mr. Eby was a Christian and member of the Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a 50-year member of the Whitewater Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Missouri #417. Mike served on the Delta R-5 School Board for several years. That board built the new Delta High School. He was a member of Delta Tau Alpha fraternity, an honor agricultural fraternity.
On November 28, 1969 he was united in marriage to Sheila F. Myers in Chaffee, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Mrs. Eby survivors at the farmhouse in Whitewater.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Alfred Michael Eby “Mike” II (Julie) of Whitewater; by one daughter, Michelle “Missy” Ikerman (Alan) of Whitewater; three grandgirls, Gwyneth, Julia, and Hannah Ikerman all of Whitewater; one sister, Sue Traw of Chaffee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Gary Proffer of Chaffee; by one nephew, Bryan Traw; one great-nephew, Blake Traw; also, by cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Ebenezer Whitewater Cemetery in Whitewater, Missouri.
Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lynwood Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral visitation and at the Lynwood Baptist Church.
