Alene Caroline Eftink, 85 a lifelong resident of the Kelso/Scott City area entered into her heavenly home on April 16, 2021 surrounded by her loving family from the very place she was born. She was the daughter of Anton and Alma Heuring Kielhafner born January 2, 1936.
On May 14, 1955 she married Louis B Eftink of Leopold at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. Mr. Eftink survives of the home.
Besides her husband, survivors include two children, Bonnie (Mike) Westrich and Larry (Suzanne) Eftink of Kelso; one sister, Lillian Emmons of Scott City; grandchildren, , Dana (Randy) Tingwall and their son Brayden, Derek (Stacey) Welter and their daughters, Reagan, Riley and Emmy, Jason (Sherri)Westrich and their daughters, Chelsea (Austin) Shoemaker and sons, Bryson & Jackson, Meghan (Austin) Nenninger and children Guin & William, Paige (Gunnar) Bollinger, Amanda Westrich and her daughter, Dominique Samples, Clayton Eftink, Whitney Eftink, Hunter (Allie) Eftink and daughter Lettie. Many nieces and nephews and others that called her Grandma Alene.
She had been employed at Florsheim Shoe Company in Chaffee, Scott City Meat Locker and HWI from 1976-1998 where she retired after 22 years.
She was proud to be a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Anne Lady Sodality, Knights of Columbus Council 6420 Ladies Auxiliary where she was the Woman of the Year in 2010/2011 and enjoyed working the fish fries and popping popcorn at bingo. She had been a 4-H leader for the Kelso Willing Workers.
Her greatest joy was farming alongside her loving husband of 65 years on her family farm just outside Scott City. Her other great joy was attending softball, baseball and basketball games of her children and grandchildren. She continued to attend ballgames in support of other children of her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Marie Philips and Dorothy King.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 18 form 4:00- 7:00 pm at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Rosary will be at 6:30 pm followed by K of C service.
Her funeral mass will be held Monday, April 19 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso with Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Grade School and Notre Dame Regional High School.
