Regina Magdalen Dirnberger

Regina Magdalen Dirnberger, 98, of New Hamburg, Mo., passed away April 27, 2012, at Jackson Manor in Jackson. She was born Nov. 9, 1913, at Benton, Mo., daughter of Henry and Regina Scherer Compas. She married Linus Philip Dirnberger on Nov. 15, 1932, at Benton. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1977, their 45th wedding anniversary. Linus and Regina farmed in the New Hamburg area, and after moving to New Hamburg, Regina was employed at Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau as a housekeeper from 1966 until 1980. She raised flowers and decorated the altars at St. Lawrence Catholic Church for 25 years. She also quilted beautiful quilts for others for many years. At the age of 94 she became a resident of Jackson Manor. She is survived by five children, Carnetta (Donald) Vonder Haar of St. Louis, Germaine (Peck) Robert of Kelso, Mo., Mary (Charles) Hess of Scott City, Linus R. (Margie) Dirnberger of Liverpool, N.Y., and Vernon (Francine) Dirnberger of Chesterfield, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Clyde, in 1951; four brothers; and three sisters. Friends may call Sunday, April 29 after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Parish rosary will be at 6 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus prayer service. Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 30 at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone as celebrant. The Rev. Michael Casteel and the Rev. James Seyer will be co-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Shrine of Miraculous Medal at Perryville, Mo.
