Josephine Mary Messmer

Josephine Mary Messmer, 94 of Kelso died June 25, 2012 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born June 1, 1918 in Chaffee, MO to the late Joseph Andrew and Bertha Theresa Seyer Himmelsbach. She married Leon Joseph Messmer on August 23, 1941 in Chaffee, MO and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1995. Josephine was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, MO; St. Ann Sodality, Kelso Senior Citizens, VFW Post 6407 Ladies Auxillary, Volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center and an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. She is survived by two sons, Walter (Carol) Messmer of Benton, MO, Michael Messmer of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Marilyn (Morris) Welsh of Jackson, MO, Diana (Robert) Westrich of Kelso, MO; three sisters, Rosemary Sander of Cape Girardeau, MO, Lorene Kinman of Decatur, TX, Virginia Compass of South Bend, IN; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Francis Himmelsbach; one sister, Doretta Schoen; an infant brother and sister. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. Parish Prayers will be at 7PM at the church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Friday at the church with Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Heart Association or St. Augustine Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
