Rudolph McCarty " Rudy" Clapp, 84 , of Scott City died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born May 22, 1928 in Byron, GA son of the late Rev. Edwin M. and Willie "Blanche" Greer Clapp, Sr. Rudy married Evelyn S. Sanders Maurath on June 9, 1999 in Clayton, MO. He grew up on a dairy farm getting up at 3:30 AM with his brothers, milking a 100 head of cattle before going to school. After school he did it all over again. Rudy was an instructor in the Army Signal Corp from 1952- 1954. He was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. He was employed at Trap Rock Industries in Kingston, NJ for many years maintaining their radio equipment and building truck scales or anything electronic. He worked for Hauck Manufacturing Company in Lebanon, PA for several years after retiring as a combustion engineer, traveling in the Southwestern states. He was a member of Illmo Baptist Church and loved all the people there. He was loving father to his children; Edwin L. (Kathy) Clapp of Clarksville, TN, Rev. Topinka, of Howell, NJ and Michael (Eileen) Clapp of Long Branch, NJ; Step-children, Rebecca (Tommy) O'Donnell of Browns Mills, NJ, John L. (Pam) Maurath, Linda (Keith) Smith and Jaqueline (Michael) Mulder all of St. Louis, MO, Cheryl A. (Pete) Carollo of High Ridge, MO and Connie L. (Kevin) Hinderer of Fenton, MO. Loving brother of Edwin Marcus (Wilma) Clapp, Jr. of Newark,DE, Rev. Roger R. (Kathryn) Clapp of Cordova, TN, Mary B. (Rev. Charles L.) Hattaway of Florence, SC and loving brother-in -law to Betty Clapp. Grandfather of 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Clapp and two sisters, Helen Clapp and Martha (Buck) Tyler. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Sunday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City and Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service at Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM at the church with Rev. Bob Herring and Dr. Charles Hattaway officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 PM in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with full military honors. Memorials can be made to Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City.
