Larry Thomas Holmes, 63 of Scott City died Tuesday July 31, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was born Jan. 21, 1949 at Louisville, Miss., the son of James Young and Esther Marie Hilliker Holmes. He married Helen Rose Dirnberger on Dec. 27, 1969 at Chaffee. Larry worked as a manager for General Plastic's for 25 years and in 1996 started Coast to Coast Signs and operated it until he retired in 2008 Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Amy (Brian) Brinkley of Wentzville, Mo. and Loretta (Robert) Lents of Jackson; two grandchildren Blake and Kari Leigh Brinkley; two sisters, LaVetra Piper and Leslie Lacey both of Scott City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Vernon Moore and a brother and four sisters. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:30 until service time at 7:00 p.m. at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Rev. Jim Hoyt will officiate.
