David Eugene Moran, 62, of Kelso died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his home. He was born May 29, 1950, in Linz, Austria, to Frank Ralph and Marjorie Talley Conaway Moran. He and Catherine Lucille Schabbing were married July 11, 1981. David was a mechanic with Nip Kelley Equipment. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, American Legion in Benton, Mo., and a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in Memphis, Tenn., where he played on the football team, and was a graduate of Memphis State University. He was an avid golfer, New Orleans Saints fan, loved science fiction and old war films, fire arms enthusiast, certified scuba diver, and was actively restoring a 1947 CJ2A Willys Jeep. He was a very loving and dedicated husband and father, who loved his family very much. He will be more than dearly missed. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Heather (Michael) Gurnow of Fruitland; and a brother, Richard Ralph (Andrea)Moran of Largo, Fla.; a nephew, Patrick Moran of Indianapolis, In. He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepmother, Helen McCoy Badon Moran; a niece, Mary Katherine Thompson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Augustine Church. Parish rosary will be recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery with full military honors.
