Aleene Ellinger of Scott City left our presence but not our hearts on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was 98 years and 5 months old. She was born June 20, 1914 in Commerce, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Alice Edgeman Hockersmith. She married Edward Frank Ellinger on January 10, 1934. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1984. She attended service at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Broadway Methodist. Her favorite activity at the Lutheran Home was distribution of the "bibs" on the dining room table at every mealtime. When she was able, she enjoyed going to Branson with her daughters and riding the "ducks". Her personality endeared her to everyone she met. She had many friends wherever she went. She was also an avid Cardinal fan and her favorite player was Yadier Molina. She is survived by a son, Frank Thomas Ellinger; two daughters, Jane (Bill) McMillan and Mary Carroll; grandchildren, Cindy (Don) Crews, Lisa (Mike) Schaefer, Karen Asbridge, Roger Ellinger, Dennis (Debora) McMillan, Ronnie (Debbie) McMillan, Ruth McMillan, Kim (Fuzz) Harris, Rhonda (Bill) Bolton, Jim (Sharon) McMillan, Rodney (Vicki) Carroll, Scott (Becky ) Carroll, Rusty ( Paula) Carroll; 21 great grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters, her twin sister, Evelyn DeRousse, Gladys Haney, Irene Phipps and Dorothy Haney; three brothers, Willard, Roy and John Hockersmith; a beloved daughter-in-law, Erma Lee Ellinger; two grandchildren, Randy Carroll and Nicholas Harris. Visitation will be from 4:00- 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Amick-Burnett Funeral chapel in Scott City. Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 16, 2012 at the chapel with Rev. Jim Norris officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
