Watson H. Hester, age 70, of Delta passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at the family home. He was born at Delta on June 8, 1942 to the late Watson Russell and Immogene Sanford Hester. Watson married Velma Glency on Oct. 6, 1967 and she survives. He is a member of the Arbor General Baptist Church and also belonged to the Delta Coffee Shop. He claimed that he held the all-time record for the number of visits to the coffee shop in one day. He was a retired Heavy Equipment operator for Union Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis. He worked for many contract companies. Survivors include his wife Velma; one son, Michael (Ruth-Ann) Hester of Cape Girardeau, Mo; one daughter, Stacey (Tony) Birk of Delta, Mo; one brother, David (Nancy) Hester of Delta, Mo; two sisters, Nancy Stoffregan and Ruth Ann (Joe) Crader both of Delta, Mo; ten grandchildren, Chelsea Birk, Taylor Birk, Bailey Birk, Christian Hester, Michaela Hester, Jessica Hester, Theresa Mier, Paul Mier, Lanson Cox and Bryce Cox. He was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Friends may call after 5PM Tuesday Jan 8, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The funeral service will be held at 10AM, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the chapel with Rev. Kermit Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Kenyon Cemetery near Delta. In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Arbor General Baptist Church.
