Mitchell Shell, age 75, of Chaffee, MO lost his fight with cancer on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the family home in Chaffee, MO. He was born in Greenbrier, MO on January 5, 1938 to the late Virgil C. and Hazel Cooper Shell. Mitchell married Delores "Dee" Hopkins on November 4, 1968 and she survives. He was an aircraft electrician and barber in the United States Air Force; worked for Southern Bell Telephone Co.; owned and operated a pay telephone route; retired as a production supervisor at General Motors in Midwest City, OK; he was also a commercial pilot with an instrument and multi-engine rating. Mitchell was a member of the Christian Church in Chaffee, MO and was past Exalted Ruler of Chaffee ELKS Lodge #1810. Survivors include his beloved wife, "Dee", of the home; three sons, Mark Shell of Bowling Green, KY, Steven Shell of Rome, GA, Ronald Shell of Scott City, MO; one daughter, Debra Shell of Norman, OK; three sisters, Jackie Fowler of Chaffee, MO, Maxine Anderson of Kirkwood, MO, Peggy Morey of Quincy, IL; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO at a later date with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
