Irene Agnes Elfrink

Irene Agnes Elfrink, 75, of Benton Mo., died Friday May 24, 2013, at her daughter's home in Benton. She was born July 21, 1937 at Benton, the daughter of Adam Eugene and Lorena Christine Scherer LeGrand. She married Norbert Herman Elfrink on June 30, 1954 at Benton. In her early years Irene spent two years in a Mother House in Joliet, Ill., to explore the vocation of religious life. She worked as a cook at the Rainbow Drive-In in Scott City and the St. Denis convent, and did in home babysitting. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and it's, St. Anne's sodality Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Carla "Jim" Nall, Diane Perdue and Beverly Gean all of Benton; a daughter-in-law Jo Beth Elfrink of Hollister, Mo.; 5 brothers, A.J. "Tony" LeGrand, Monroe LeGrand and Walter LeGrand, all of Benton, Ralph V. LeGrand of Cape Girardeau and David LeGrand of Jackson; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; a son Vincent Elfrink; a daughter Deborah Wilfawn; two brothers and a sister. Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton Sunday from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 7:00. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated by Rev. Michael Casteel, Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family request donations in Irene's memory to; Susan G.
