Euin "Dean" Wadlington, 83, of Scott City, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 5, 1929 in Fornfelt, Mo., the son of Euin and Lorene Hensley Wadlington. He married Gloria Faye Ingvalson on Aug. 5, 1948 in Fornfelt. Dean excelled in sports playing basketball and baseball; he received a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Missouri. He returned to southeast Missouri to marry the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Gloria Faye. Their sixty-four year marriage was blessed with six children. For over thirty years, Dean worked as a conductor with the Southern Pacific - Cotton Belt Railroad and served as the UTU local chairman. He was a member of Scott City First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a Minister of Music and Deacon. Dean served on the school board at Illmo-Scott City School; he also coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. Dean owned Big T Family Restaurant in Scott City in the 1970's and 1980's. He enjoyed family holidays, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick (Brenda) Wadlington of Lake St. Louis, Mo., and Robert (Tammy) Wadlington of Benton, Mo.; four daughters, Susan (Don) Rogers of St. Charles, Mo., Sally (Jim) Noon and Shelly (Randy) Bohn of Kelso, Mo., and Sheryl (Jim) Bollinger of Cape Girardeau, and; 14 grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Rogers, Leigh (Chris) Franklin, Sarah (Britt) Mirgaux, Megan (Jordan) Charboneau, Matthew (fianceé, Meredith) Bollinger, Rachel (Scott) Reinagel, Evan Wadlington, Alison Bollinger, Brent and Michael Bohn, Katie (Kyle) Junge, Blake, Austin and Lauren Wadlington, and; 8 great grandchildren, Drew and Aaron Rogers, Kelsey, Kyra and Emily Franklin, Julia, Kate and Natalie Mirgaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Larry Wadlington, and an infant sister, Linda Sue Wadlington. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City and from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at Scott City First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeremy Sells and Rodney Eldridge officiating. Interment will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery at Scott City.
