David "Bert" Wilson, 84 of Whitewater died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Chaffee Nursing Center surrounded by the love of his family. Bert was born on January 27, 1929 in Arab, MO to James and Connie Proffer Wilson. He married Helen R. Maples on June 25, 1947. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2012. He lived in Chaffee, MO for many years until 1970 when he and his wife built a home on their family farm near Whitewater, MO where he resided until his death. He was most satisfied working and spending time on his farms. He was a mason of the Chaffee Masonic Lodge AF & AM #615, a member of the Chaffee Elks Lodge #1810. He was of the Baptist faith. Bert was hired by the Frisco Railroad and later the Burlington Northern Railroad on October 1950 and he retired in January 1992. He also helped his wife Helen operate the Lake Girardeau concession stand for 14 years. He leaves behind his life's accomplishments, his family. He is survived by a daughter; Janet (Larry) Cook; a son, Paul Wilson; four grandchildren, Lana (Sidney) Atkins, Matthew Wilson, Katherine (Nathan) Tidwell and Nicholas Wilson; three great grandsons, Peyton, Kade and Ty Atkins. He is also survived by many other family member and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents as a child; his wife, Helen and a sister, Jean Alexander. Friends may call at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2013. Masonic Service will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 10:00 Am, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the chapel with Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico with burial following at the Puxico City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Whitewater United Methodist Church or Lake Girardeau Assembly of God Church.
