EDWARD LEE CASTLEMAN, 69, of Columbia, Illinois, born July 21, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his home. Ed retired from the Southern Pacific (Cotton Belt) Railroad after 32 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union. After his retirement he volunteered at RSVP and Radio Information Service in Belleville, IL. He was a member of Christ Community Lutheran Church in Columbia; V.F.W Post 2593; and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Castleman and a grandson, Jacob Edward. Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Castleman; a son, Jason (Angie) Castleman of El Paso, IL; two step children, Maggie and Adam Ursch, both of Columbia, IL; three brothers, Larry (Kathryn) Castleman of Dothan, AL, Tom (Kathi) Castleman of Indianapolis, IN and Mark (Paula) Castleman of Cape Girardeau, MO; a sister, Neisha (John) Schwartz of Cape Girardeau, MO; two grandchildren, Zach and Abby; a step grandchild, Hunter Datillo; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Bob Groves.
