James Leon Givens, Sr

James Leon Givens, Sr. of Allenville, MO died October 5, 2013 at the Chaffee Nursing Center. He was born October 18,1942 in Dupo, IL to Leon and Grace Iona McCulley Givens. He married Anna Lavada Robins on July 17, 1965. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2011. James was assistant manager at Rhodes Truck Stop in Scott City. He served in the U. S. Army. He is survived by his mother, Grace Givens of Chaffee; two sons, James L. (Melissa) Givens Jr. of Princeton, IL and Mitchell Givens, Sr. of Patton, MO; a daughter, Tammy (Donald) Parkhurst of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Jerry (Ida) Givens of Scott City and Charles Givens of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Lela (Dub) Welker of Chaffee and Debra (Ron) Anglin of Gypsy; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and two sisters. Visitation will be from 4:00 -8: 00 PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the chapel with Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Kenyon Cemetery in Delta, MO with full military honors.
