Theo E. "Ted" Amschler, 90, of Oran, MO, passed away peacefully October 16, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. He was born October 18, 1922 in Apple Creek, MO, to George and Sophia Unterriener Amschler. He attended school at St. Joseph's in Apple Creek. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Air Force, serving his country from 1946 to 1949. Later, "Uncle Ted" attended Jewelers and Watchmakers College in Houston, Texas. From 1951 to 2001 he owned and operated Amschler Jewelry and Clock Repair in Benton, MO. He was well known to everyone at the courthouse and in the community. On November 9, 1957 he married Coena Klipfel at Guardian Angel Church in Oran, MO. She died August 22, 2002. He was a faithful member of Guardian Angel Parish and a devoted supporter of the school there. "Uncle Ted" or "Uncle Theo" as he was known to his family, loved to collect and trade antique clocks, coins, and pocket watches. He loved to talk about the history of these items to his family and friends, along with many stories about his life. He will be remembered as a very special Uncle to many. He was especially close to his nephew William Klipfel and his wife Peggy, and their children and grandchildren- Laramie and Dustin Bryant (Dalaini, Parker, and Cooper), Matt and Shana Klipfel (Will and Wes), Danielle and John Vandeven (Colbie and Kellen), and Jason and Amanda Klipfel. Many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Coena, a sister Regina Winschel, and five brothers, Edwin, Rudy, Walter, Oscar, and Gilbert. Visitation will be from 4-8pm, Friday, October 18, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, MO with parish prayers at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held at 10am Saturday October 19, 2013 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, MO with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery with military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard. The family requests that memorials be made to Guardian Angel Catholic School.
