Jesse Elsworth "Jet" Rhymer, 93 of Scott City died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born January 21, 1920 in East Cape Girardeau, IL to James Rollie & Kathryn Elizabeth Knupp Rhymer. He married Barbara Belle Lance on July 28, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, MO. Jesse was retired from Lone Star Cement Plant after working for 30 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Scott City where he served faithfully as a song leader, Sunday school teacher and Deacon. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1941 - 1945 when he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He was proud to be a Christian, a World War II Veteran, a husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being with his family, going to church and "working on the place." He is survived by his wife of 68 years, one son, Roger (LaVeda) Rhymer of Scott City; four daughters, Linda (Jerry) Moore and Patty Rhymer both of Poplar Bluff, Anita (Jim) Lambert and Penny (Jamie) Davidson both of Scott City; eleven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and six brothers. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Friday, November 8, 2013 at Assembly of God Church in Scott City. Funeral Service will be at 7:00 PM, Friday at the church with Revs. Randy Morse, Jerry Moore and Charles Lance officiating. Graveside Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City with Full Military Honors.
