Michael Ray Sheppard

Michael Ray Sheppard, 66, of Scott City passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Tillemooke, Ore., to the late Jack London and Jewel Ann McDaniel Sheppard. Michael and Martha Horrell were married June 10, 1972. He worked for J.A. Jones Construction Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau and was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Martha Sheppard of Scott City; one son, Derek (Theresa) Sheppard of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia, London and Michael Sheppard; and one brother, Larry Sheppard of West Sacramento, Calif. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
