James J.W. Jones

James "J.W." Jones, of Delta, MO, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born in Delta, MO to the late Fangie Edward and Nellie Ann Borneman Jones. He married Joann Poinsett and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2000. J.W. was a member of the United States Army and served in WWII. He worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Bechtel Corporation in California before retiring as a farmer. He was also a member of Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis, MO for 62years. Survivors include three step daughters, Barbara Fisher of Jackson, MO, Jeffery Fowler of Cape Girardeau, MO, Donna Williams of Crump, MO; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; one nephew, F.E. Jones III of Chattanooga, TN; very special family friends James (Christina) Hornbuckle, Rozlynn, Jaren, Carlaena and Paxton all of Delta, MO. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Fangie(Junior) Jones and a niece, Judy Copeland. Friends may call after 4:30pm on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McGuire Cemetery or Arbor General Baptist Church.
