James C. Poinsett

James C. "Jim" Poinsett, age 66, of Chaffee, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Southeast Hospital ER in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born on January 24, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late Calvin and Vera Lamb Poinsett. He married Margaret E. Nothdurft on November 22, 1967 at Trinity Methodist Church near Delta and she survives. Jim worked as a construction inspector for the City of Cape Girardeau; owned and operated JIM-N-I Construction in Bollinger County from 1969-1976, and he and Margaret owned and operated Professional Tax Service in Chaffee for the last 32 years. He was an avid reader, gardener and loved to travel. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of the home; one brother, Mike (Vickie) Poinsett of Jackson, MO; two nephews, Jamie Poinsett of Chowchilla, CA, DeWayne Buttrey of Fisk, MO; two nieces, Keri (Gary) Fisher of Cape Girardeau, MO, Tracy Nothdurft of Loveland, OH; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Friends may call after 4pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO. A prayer service will be held at 7pm with Rev. Ron Ledbetter, Rev. Mike Huffman and Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date with Rev. Jack Owens officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Trinity Methodist Church and Cemetery Association of which Jim was an active supporter.
