Edward D. Baker, 81, of Scott City, Mo, passed away Wednesday January 1, 2014 peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was born on May 9, 1932 to Fred and Laura Bosse Baker in Madison, Il. After he honorably served in the Air Force, he married Sarah A. Lee on May 9, 1952. They had 3 beautiful children, daughter Sherry Braden, and his twin sons, Ronald and Donald Baker. Later in his life, he met Sharon Raines who has been by his side for 12 wonderful years. Ed was an extremely skilled mechanic and owner of Baker Service Center for 50 years. He was an active member of the Father's Arms Fellowship church, loved to watch wrestling, and an avid lucky gambler, but he captured everyone with his laughter and funny jokes. He is survived two sons, Ronald and wife Brenda Baker and Donald and wife Mary Baker. Son-in-law Richard Braden, grandchildren Dana Braden, Susan and husband Ty Gifford, Lindsey Baker and Zach Baker. He also had three great-grandchildren, Brennon, Baylee and Braden Gifford; his companion Sharon Raines; two brothers, Harold Ross and Jim Spooler and a sister, Annalee Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Fred Baker, brothers John Baker and Chester Ross, wife Sarah Baker and daughter, Sherry Braden. Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 4-8pm at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Funeral Service will be Friday, January 3, 2013 at 2pm at the Chapel with Revs. Ken Strong and Ron McKinley officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
