Dorothy Sue Dockery Teegarden, age 85, of Chaffee, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born on November 21, 1928 in Hayti, MO to the late Cress and Clois Billideau Dockery. She graduated from Hayti High School in 1946 and was salutatorian of her class. She married Hershel C. Teegarden on Oct. 23, 1951 and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1972. She and Hershel opened Tee's Prescription Shop in 1962 which later became Medicap Pharmacy. She owned and operated the pharmacy until she retired in July 2007 due to ill health, but remained owner until her death. Dorothy was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson, MO; Charter Member of the Chaffee Business and Professional Club; she held several local offices and served as District Director on the State level; she was chosen Woman of the Year in 1975. In 1990 she received the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award. She is survived by two sons, Jim (Mary) Teegarden of Overland Park, KS, Kevin (Cindy) Teegarden of Jackson, MO; four grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Teegarden and fiancé Doug Turner and daughter Ella Turner, Jon Teegarden all of Overland Park, KS, Dr. Courtney Teegarden, PharmD and Hunter Teegarden both of Jackson, MO; a sister, Rosemary Marshall; a brother, Tom (Glenda) Dockery; several nieces and nephews, a special great niece, Makenna Nixon and special great nephew, Rylan Nixon; many friends and church family who brought her much happiness. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carlyle Dockery; one brother-in-law, Joe Marshall and one niece, Sue Poe. Friends may call after 5p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the chapel with the minister Bryan McAlister officiating assisted by minister Edd Sterchi. Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, MO.
