Francis E Miller

Francis Miller, 85 of Godfrey, IL formerly of Glen Carbon, IL and Shawneetown, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday February 3, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 13, 1928 in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late Erskin and Edna Proffer Miller. He and Viginia Eifert were married September 4, 1950 at Eisleben Luthern Church in Scott City, MO. The United States Army Veteran proudly served his county during World War II. Retired as Captain from the Glen Carbon, IL police department and the Cotton Belt Railroad. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating and camping. Survivors include his wife, two sons and daughter-in-laws, Walter Eugene and Geri Miller of Breaux Bridge, LA and Michael Gene and Michelle Miller of Godfrey, IL; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Eisleben Luthern Church in Scott City on Thursday February 6, 2014 at 11am until time of service. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Marty Hasz officiating. Burial will be in Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery will full military honors. Memorials may be made to Eisleben Lutheran Church.
