James L. Urhahn

James L. "Gumbo" Urhahn, age 71, of Sikeston, MO passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the family home in Sikeston, MO. He was born on November 7, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late Leon Simon "Gumbo" and Verneda Marie Welter Urhahn. He married Jearldine Griswell on February 19, 1966 in Oran, MO and she survives. James was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston, MO, Knights of Columbus #3135, Sikeston Elks Lodge #2319 and he also was a volunteer for the Sikeston Fire and Rescue for over 25 years. He retired as a maintenance man for Bunny Bread in Sikeston, MO. He is survived by his wife, Jearldine, of the home; one son, James "Tim" Urhahn of Fruitland, MO; one daughter, Tamara Sanders of Morley, MO; three brothers, Tom Urhahn of Oran, MO, Augie Urhahn of Scott City, MO, Rick Urhahn of Sikeston, MO; four sisters, Mary C. Schott of Crestwood, MO, Lynda Hess of Malden, MO, Anna Stringfellow of Millington, TN, Laurie Smith of Overland, MO and five grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, James L. Urhahn Jr. and a brother Paul Urhahn. Friends may call after 4p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, MO. Parish Rosary will be at 5p.m. followed by KC Prayers. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston, MO with Monsignors William Stanton, Richard Rolwing and Rev. Patrick Nwokoye as concelebrants. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories in Sikeston, MO.
