Margaret Sue Mayfield

Margaret Sue Mayfield, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Ratliff Care Center. She was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Illmo (Scott City), to Lowell L. and Grace Francis Rothrock McLane. She and Layton W. Mayfield were married Aug. 15, 1954. He preceded her in death May 31, 2011. Margaret was a bookkeeper at Bunny Bread and retired in 1988. She was a member of Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City. Survivors include a daughter, Becky (Bill) Shell of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, William Shell and Emma Shell, both of Cape Girardeau. She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Mayfield, June 14, 2007; a brother and two sisters. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City, with the Rev. Jimmy Matthews officiating.
