Mary Jo Ressel, age 57, of Oran, MO passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 10, 2014. She was born on August 27, 1956 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Herman Joe and Doris Wills Ressel. Mary Jo was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, MO. and St. Ann Sodality; she loved music, played the saxophone for The Golden Eagles Marching Band at SEMO, loved to play the piano and saxophone, played the organ at Guardian Angel in her younger years, sang at several weddings and was the director of the church choir at Ft. Leonardwood. She also loved to dance and play baseball and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. One of her favorite past times was listening to music and singing along with her sweetheart Elvis Presley. Survivors include her mother, Doris Ressel, of Oran, MO.; two sons, Jason (Blair) Prince of Halfway, MO., Justin Prince of Brighton, MO.; one daughter, Becky (Tracy) Guzman of Oran, MO.; four brothers, Bob (Terri) Ressel of Oran, MO., Steve (Amy) Ressel of Oran, MO., Dany (Robin) Ressel of Springfield, MO., Ben (Misty) Ressel of Cape Girardeau, MO.; one sister, Sheri (Terry) Holmes of Oran, MO.; five grandchildren, Alias, Mason, Wyatt and Scarlett Jo Prince, Brandy Guzman; four care givers who took care of her and loved her for many years, Viki Cook, Jennifer Rohan, Susie Smith and Tammy Burkes and her faithful companion and protector "Chili". She was preceded in death by her father. Friends may call after 4PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, MO. Parish Prayers will be held at 5:30PM at the chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 10AM, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, MO with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Catholic Church Cemetery in Oran, MO.
