Rev. Eric Payton Hodge

Rev. Eric Payton Hodge, age 50, of Delta, MO passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born on June 12, 1963 in Tullahoma, TN to the late James Payton and Eleanor Anne Jones Hodge. After graduating Tullahoma High School, Eric obtained his B.S from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. He later received his M.Div. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He married Connie Lynn O'Neal on May 18, 1985 and she survives. Over the years Eric served several churches which included, Longview Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN., Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma, TN., Powell's Chapel Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN., Oakland Baptist Church in Glencoe, KY., Boynton Valley Baptist Church in Manchester, TN and the First Baptist Church in Delta, MO. He also served 20 years in various positions with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts starting in Manchester, TN. and later he was the Boy Scoutmaster of Troop 51 in Chaffee, MO. He was also a member of the Delta Fire Dept. Board and the Missouri Disaster Relief Team. Survivors include his wife, Connie, of the home; two sons, Connor Payton Hodge and Adam Alexander Hodge both of Delta, MO; one daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Hodge of Delta, MO; two sisters, Clair Ellen Hodge of Nashville, TN and Sarah Lynn Hodge Morrison of Franklin, TN. He was also preceded in death by one sister Rebecca Anne Hodge Nelson. Friends may call after 5p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at The First Baptist Church in Delta, MO. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 9a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Jon Sedgwick officiating assisted by Tim Lipe. Burial will be at 4p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Blanche Cemetery in Blanche, TN with Rev. Jason Parks officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The First Baptist Church Mission Fund in Delta, MO.
