Elvira Teresa Schaefer

Elvira Teresa Schaefer, age 82, of Oran, MO passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the family home in Oran. She was born on January 25, 1932 on the family farm in Oran, MO to the late Ferdinand and Louise Brucker. She married Harold Lawrence Schaefer on January 27, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1987. Elvira raised their 11 children and also worked at the Oran Elementary School as a janitor and teachers aid. She later went to work at Thorngate Ltd. in the shipping department and then retired from Columbia Sportwear in Chaffee, MO. She was a member of St. Ann's Sodality and Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, MO. She is survived by four sons, Elmer (Janet) Schaefer, Harry Schaefer, Mike(Michelle) Schaefer all of Oran, Danny (Doreen) Schaefer of Whitehall, MD; seven daughters, Teresa (Neil) Terhune of Raton, NM, Rose (Ross) Pobst, Doris Reddick, Connie (Jimmy) Robinson all of Oran, MO, Freda (Dennis) Savat of McClure, IL, Mary Boese of Jackson, MO, Judy (Frank) Sewell of Sikeston, MO as well as one hundred grandchildren, great grandchildren and great -great grandchildren all of whom she was very proud of. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and three grandchildren. Friends may call after 4pm on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish Prayers will be held at 7pm at the chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10a.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oran, MO.
