Carrie Ruth (McLain) Wilhelm, 94 of Tavares, FL, formerly of Scott City died Sunday May 25, 2014 at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares, FL. She was born March 10, 1920 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Monroe and Myrtle Coomer McLain. She married Henry Antone Wilhelm on March 29, 1947 in Benton, MO. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1996. Carrie worked as a riveter and welder on Navy Ships during World War II. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6407 in Scott City, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 6420 in Scott City. She is survived by two sons, Jim Wilhelm of Zellwood, FL and Kenneth Wilhelm of Scott City; a daughter, Sandra Borst of Wildwood, Fl; a brother Jack McLain of Cape Girardeau; a sister Mary Wissman of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, eight brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from 4:30 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 6:00 PM. Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Scott City with Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic church or the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
