Roy F. Steger

Roy F. Steger Jr., age 74, of Chaffee, MO passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the family home in Chaffee. He was born on December 27, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to the late Roy Francis and Myrtle Elizabeth Chapel Steger Sr. He married Stella Irene Sadler on September 23, 1978 and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2012. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired first mate for Midland Enterprises having worked on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers during his career. He was a member of Chaffee Country CBer's, Chaffee Elks Lodge #1810, Chaffee American Legion #389 and Chaffee V.F.W Post #3127. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Rodney) Kirn of Jackson, MO, Tina (John) Swinford of Chaffee, Linda Jo Hayes; two step-sons, Bobby (Anita) Schrum, Gary (Debbie) Schrum both of Chaffee; four sisters, Mary Jo Schwettman of Scott City, Linda Davis of Scott City, Janet Sullivan of Chaffee, Barbara Leming of Scott City; nineteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Malvin Steger; two sisters, Ruth Feltmeyer, Donna Cook-Caksackkar and one step son, Ronald Schrum Sr. Friends may call after 4p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Elks service will be held at 7p.m. Funeral service will be at 1p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the chapel with Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, MO with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard.
