Mabel Louise Shy

Mabel Louise Shy, age 90, of New Madrid, MO formerly of Chaffee, MO passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at The Golden Living Center in New Madrid. She was born on October 3, 1923 in New Hamburg, MO to the late Frank and Olivia Dumey Graser. She married Gordon "Doc" Shy on Jan. 22, 1947 and he preceded her in death on Mar. 22, 1999. Mabel was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, Daughters of St. Ambrose, American Legion and Chaffee V.F.W Auxillary Post 3127. She was a store clerk at Graser-Shy Supermarket in Chaffee. Survivors include a son, John Shy of Apple Valley, CA; three daughters, Cheryl Young of Olathe, KS, Mary Shy and Gail Shy both of New Madrid, MO; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, a son, a brother and two sisters. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant with Rev. Jaroslaw Z. Skrzypek and Deacon James Darter as concelebrants. Burial will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.
