Ann Catherine Scherer, 82 of Benton died January 20, 2015 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born February 6, 1932 in New Hamburg, MO. She married Ralph Andrew Scherer on May 20, 1953 in New Hamburg, MO. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1997. She was an x-ray technician at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, MO, St. Ann's Sodality of St. Denis and Red Hat Society. She is survived by three sons, Bruce (Michelle) Scherer of Benton, MO, Roy (Jody) Scherer of Sparta, MO and Neal (Jodi) Scherer of Altenburg, MO; two daughters, Donna (Tim) Niederkorn of Millstadt, IL and Cathy (Brian) Ekins of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Theon Vetter and two sisters, Marvine LeGrand and Carrie Raymond. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Benton, MO. Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, MO with Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Denis Catholic Cemetery in Benton. Memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
