Ann Alice Huck, 100, of Commerce, MO died Monday, February 23, 2015 at her home with family by her side. She was born August 23, 1914 on Big Island, down river from Commerce, MO to Chauncy Conger "Hibbs" and Flora Ann Rasberry-Foster. She married Linus E. "Bud" Huck on October 3, 1936 in Fairfield, IL. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2001. As a young woman, Ann was a school teacher for Big Island School District 17. Later she served for 26 years as the Mayor of Commerce, being one of the first women to hold the office of Mayor in Southeast Missouri. Always involved in community, she organized many local clubs and organizations, was one of the founders of the Commerce Better Community Club, and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Commerce. She is survived by a son, Dr. Linus F. "Bud" Huck and his wife Becky and their children Nathan Huck and Dr. Martha Huck-Miller of Fruitland, MO; two daughters, Dr. George Ann Huck of Commerce and Merida Yucatan, Mexico and Dr. Lois Lee Huck and her husband Dr. John Ramsey of Commerce and their children Flora Ann Ramsey-Koshravi and John Matthew Ramsey both of Des Moines, IA and a niece Marilyn Ruth Foster Davis of Clarksville, GA; her extended family Glenda Rae Beardslee, daughter of her best friends who preceded her in death, Nina and Glenn Beardslee. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, her twin Archie Foster and Hibbs Foster and two half-brothers. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until time of eulogy service on Saturday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Eulogy service will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at the chapel. Private burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church at Commerce.
