Juanita Kathryn Jordan age 89 of Purcell, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born June 12, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA. She was one of eight children born to Lee Alsup and Iva Lucille (Burton) Alsup. Kathryn moved to Oklahoma when she was six weeks old. She grew up a farm girl learning how to work hard in the cotton and broomcorn fields. She attended Dibble schools and graduated with the class of 1943. After high school she worked as a substitute teacher. When WWII broke out she went to work at Douglas AFB in Midwest City as a "Rosie the Riveter". After the war was over, Kathryn went to beauty school and became a licensed beautician. In 1947, Kathryn married the love of her life, Will Roy Jordan. They were married on Jan. 26, 1947 in Purcell and soon moved to Lamesa, Texas. While living in Texas, they raised four children; Elaine, Brent, Kent and Janae. After Will Roy retired, they moved back to the Purcell area in 1988 to be closer to her aging parents. Kathryn worked most of her life as a homemaker and caregiver to her family and others. Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, crocheting and quilting. In her later years she learned to use the computer, sending mails, playing games and most recently she was teaching herself how to play the piano. Kathryn was a faithful Christian and member of the Sunray Baptist Church in Purcell. For many years she taught Sunday school and led ladies bible studies. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a special sister, aunt and a dear friend to her neighbors. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Lee and Iva Lucille Alsup; Husband, Will Roy Jordan on Feb. 28, 1995; Three brothers, Alvin, Eldon and Larry Alsup; One sister, Jacqueline Vaughn; She is survived by: Four children, Elaine Jordan of Scott City, MO, Brent Jordan and wife Jolene of Graham, TX, Kent Jordan and wife Brenda of Ringwood, OK, Janae Eskew and husband Ron of Scott City, MO, Adopted daughter, Diane McAllister of Scott City, MO; One sister, Faye Chapman of Cole, OK, Two brothers, James Alsup and wife Francis of Washington, OK, Kenneth Alsup and wife Jackie of Ft. Smith, AR; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Sunray Baptist Church in Purcell, OK. Interment will be at the Dibble Cemetery in Dibble, OK. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK
