James L. Bell, age 93, of Sikeston, MO passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO. He was born on July 19, 1921 in Chaffee, MO to the late Robert and Mollie Cox Bell. He married Gladys Bernice Margrabe on June 23, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 23, 1990. James was a Sergeant in the United States Army. He served as a Heavy Machine Gunner in World War II, Rome-Arno, North Apennnies and PO Valley Campaigns. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European African and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, and two Overseas Bars. He worked for 34 years at MO Utilities-Union Electric as a groundman. He was a former member of the Morley VFW Post #5368 and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his son, Terry Bell Sr. of Sikeston, MO; three grandchldren, Terry Bell Jr. of Poplar Bluff, MO, Jason Bell of Morley, MO and Stephanie Novak of Sikeston, MO and three great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Friends may call from 10 a.m., until the time of service on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, MO. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the chapel with Rev. Jason Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, MO with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard.
