Alice Virginia Rhodes

Alice Virginia Rhodes passed away on May 9, 2015 at age 93. She was born on October 3, 1921, the eldest daughter of Fern and Jesse Elliott. Alice grew up in St. Louis, embraced by her loving family - which included four treasured siblings. She had many happy childhood memories. She was salutatorian of her high school class, and attended Harris Stowe College for two years. She married Walter (Dusty) Rhodes in 1948. She devoted her life to raising her daughters and supporting her husband. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins lived nearby as her children grew - all sharing the joys of the extended Elliott family. Alice was truly an angel on earth - modeling warmth and compassion throughout her long life. Her kindness was recognized and admired by all who knew her. She was a patient and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt - the embodiment of grace and selflessness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Rhodes, her brothers John (Shirley) Elliott and Irl (Delphine) Elliott. She is survived by her sister, Doris Elliott, and her brother Jesse (Sandy) Elliott, her daughters Susan(Mark) Kelley and Dusty Hayden, two grandchildren, Erin (Michael) Fulton and Rhodes (Lexy) Kelley and three great granddaughters - Parker, Emma and Hadley Fulton, many nieces and nephews. Our momma's spirit remains a source of inspiration to be a kinder, more generous person. We were fortunate to have loved her. To honor her memory - her family encourages you to spend time with people you love - enjoying life. She will be memorialized by the family privately.
