Cecilia "Sis" Hindman, age 93, of Chaffee, MO passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born on December 28, 1921 to the late Charles and Igenia Strack Griffin, being the second oldest of ten children. Cecilia and Clarence L. Hindman were married at St. Ambrose Church in the the priest's living quarters on August 12, 1938 and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1997. She was known as "Sis" most of her life; some of her greatest pleasures in life was having a clean house, cooking and baking for her family and friends and spending time with her sisters. She also had a "green thumb" when it came to her flowers. "Sis" was a member of St. Ambrose parish and its ladies organization, the Daughters of St. Ambrose. She worked as a machine operator at Inland Shoe Company in Advance, Missouri. She is survived by a son, Charles Hindman of Kentucky; two daughtes, Virginia Harris and Glenda (Larry) Pobst both of Chaffee; grandchildren, Regina (Mike) Boone, Sara (Jason) Berry of Chaffee, Amy (Brian) Glueck of Freidhiem, Megan (Jeremy) Bain of Kelso and Zachary (Allana) Hindman of DesArc, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Blake Graviett of Gordonville, Missouri, Issabella, Sophia and Maxwell "Max" Hindman of DesArc, Missouri, Tiffany and Macey Harris of Chaffee, Connor and Grant Berry of Chaffee and Grady Glueck of Freidhiem; a brother, Paul Griffin of Chaffee; three sisters, Helen Knudson of Fairdealing, Shirley Griffin and Pauline Asmus both of Chaffee; many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, Missouri alongside her husband. The family wishes to give "Praises and Thanksgiving" in appreciation to all who took such compassionate care of "Sis" the last nine months of her life, in both units at the Lutheran Home and to the Lutheran Hospice care group who provided such comforting care and to those at the Chaffee Nursing Center who gave great care in the beginning stages of her Alzheimer's disease.
