Naomi Collier Simmons, 89 of Scott City, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2015 while surrounded by family. She was born February 5, 1926 in Scott County, Missouri, the eldest daughter to Freeman and Esther Mitchell Collier. She and Joseph Wilson Simmons were united in marriage on February 9, 1948. He preceded her in death April 21, 2002. Naomi was a graduate of Diehlstadt High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught third and fourth grades at Delta R-5 for most of her career. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Scott City. She was an inspiration to her family, many of her students and fellow teachers building friendships that have lasted her whole life. Loving survivors include her three sons, Joe (Joy), of Jackson, Randy of Grand Tower, IL and Norman (June) of Cape Girardeau. Five siblings, Barbara Kehoe of St. Louis, Carrie (James) Trentham of Jackson, Helen (Doyle) Holland of St. Louis, Charlotte (Wayne) Schneider of Fredericktown, Freeman Jr. (Bonnie) Collier of Villa Ridge, IL. Sister in laws, June Collier of Charleston and Francis Collier of Bollinger County. Four granddaughters, Julie (Michael) Brockmire, Jill (Kenny) Jones, Jennifer (Dale) Parker and Rebecca (Alex) Martin. Six great-grandchildren, Allison, Cole, Belle Naomi, Grant, Lauren and Carson. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Charles, Glen and Ralph, one sister Alice Lincoln and one infant son, Larry. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City and from 9:00 AM until time of service at on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Scott City. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at the Church with Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Cemetery in Benton, MO
