Claire Prass

Claire Elizabeth Prass, 87, of Scott City, went to her final reward on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center Compassionate Care, with her immediate family and sister, Alice Langston and two nieces, Karen Shirrel and Patty Holloway by her side. She was born in Thebes, Illinois on Jan. 11, 1928 and was one of 13 children. Claire was a past president of St. Joseph CCW, a former sacristan at St. Joseph Catholic Church and supported her parish activities as well as the Scott City Food Pantry. She was the beloved mother of Frances (Harmon) Presswood and Chuck of Scott City, Bill of San Mateo, California and Jim of Brentwood, California; grandmother of Pam Larned, Kevin Mattson, Regina Hagen, Christina (Jason) Jurgens, Ronnie Hagen, David Prass, Andrew Prass and Sarah Prass; and great-grandmother of Samantha Larned, Jessica Mattson, Magnolia Douglas, Victoria Larned, Zachary Larned and Alyssa Jurgens. Claire loved Harmon's children and grandchildren, Mary Ellen Dudley (children April/Lela, Tara and Katie), Christine Szabelski (Jerry and children Nikki Brant (Ryan and child, Zyris) and Jeremiah) and Jason Presswood (Cathy - child Ella). Aunt Claire will be sorely missed by her sisters Mary and Alice, who survive; and all her nieces, nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Josephs; her grandson, Christopher Josephs; and her husband, William. We will remember her love and gentle spirit of sacrifice when we are at prayer group and remember the many times she welcomed us in her home with cookies, caring and kindness. We will think of her fondly when remembering her Sunday dinners and on all the holidays when we gathered at her home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Prayers will be at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City with the Rev. Joe Weidenbenner as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Scott City. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Joseph CCW for funeral dinners or the Scott City Food Pantry.
