James A. Tyler

James A. Tyler, age 76, of Chaffee, MO passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the family home in Chaffee, Missouri. He was born in Fornfelt, Missouri on August 10, 1939 to the late Ernest Clayton and Jennie Christina Sanders Tyler. He married Barbara Howell at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran, Missouri on October 5, 1968 and the attendants were the bride's sister Pat Uptain and her late husband John Uptain. After graduating high school Jim spent 10 years in the United States Navy mostly as a flight simulator instructor. Upon returning home he drove for Valley Steel and then he became a brakeman and conductor for Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 2000 but was not ready to stay at home so he and his wife, Barb traveled. Jim then drove the school bus for Chaffee, Kelly and later Scott County Central schools. Life got even better when he became the score keeper for Scott County Central basketball. He considered the boys who played basketball as his other family and loved each and every one of them. Survivors include his wife, Barb of the home; his pride and joy his children, one son, Clint (Courtnie) Tyler of Benton, MO; one daughter, Sabrina (Jason) Pobst of Oran, MO; three brothers, Thomas (June) Tyler of Mesquite, TX, Robert (Sue) Tyler of Scott City, MO, Michael (Glyndia) Tyler of Columbus, MS; seven grandchildren, Anna Ruth and Connor Pobst, Jonathon, Jada and Landry Kate Tyler, Miranda and Carson Sadler. Jim was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Hill and Mary Alice Tyler. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Scott County Central High School Gym. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at the gym with Rev. Michael Woods officiating. In lieu of flowers Jim would like donations to be made to the Scott County Central High School Athletic Dept. The family would like to thank Southeast Hospice for all the kindness they have shown to us during this difficult time.
